Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways is happy to present “Dyin’ To Know,” from Joanne Shaw Taylor’s upcoming rerelease of the album Wild (Silvertone/Sony),  produced by Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa).  This song will rock you to the core with its powerful bluesy style.   Wild came out independently in 2016 but is slated to be rereleased by Sony in the coming months.  Taylor was born in the UK but divides her time between there and Detroit.  She will be touring in the US for a month, starting August 22nd (check dates below).

Shaw Taylor’s live performance abilities have landed her roles in a band with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics (when she was 16), and she made an appearance onstage on lead guitar supporting Annie Lennox at Buckingham Palace in front of an audience of 12,000. Give this track a listen and you’ll not only hear, but we guarantee you’ll feel, the energy behind all the enthusiasm for Joanne Shaw Taylor.  Then go see her live to find out what all the fuss is about!

“‘Dyin’ to Know’ was the first song James House and I wrote for Wild. It’s about a friend of mine who was too deep into a drink problem to realize it was taking her life away. It was the first song we wrote and it happened to be the first song we cut with the band. We did one take and that’s what you hear. We played it once and producer Kevin Shirley said, ‘that’s it, next.’ I remember we all (myself and the band) looked at him and he just hit the talk back button and said, ‘trust me, you’re not gonna do better than that’.”  — Joanne Shaw Taylor
