Cuchulain “I’ve Seen Every Bird”

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Cuchulain’s song “I’ve Seen Every Bird” from their forthcoming album It’s Always Something, which will be available on April 3, and was recorded live in a room in Eugene, Oregon. The album was engineered by Cuchulain, mixed by Shawn Barry, and mastered by Hans Bilger.

“I’ve Seen Every Bird” is Cuchulain on vocals, acoustic guitar, and harmonica; Tom Whaley on trombone; Poom Aempoo on trumpet; Paul Carberry on bass; and Malcolm Orr on drums.

This video was shot and colored by Maceo Banyan.

As Cuchulain tells us, “This song is a true story, not at all a tall tale. We’ve been a Johnny Cash tribute band, and we are also big birdwatchers / Wingspan players. Naturally, this parody wrote itself. This tune is for bird lovers, Johnny Cash fans, aviary nerds, and classic country lovers. It’s also for Weird Al (a national treasure, in my opinion). Promo videos will feature Wingspan cards and the Cornell Ornithology Lab / Merlin app. I’d invite any playlist curators to join me for a game of wingspan. You’d unfortunately lose.”

Cuchulain is one more solid link in the chain of traditional storytelling folk songs, and his songwriting and delivery are witty, light hearted, with a healthy dose of tongue-in-cheekiness.
