March To August “Whiskey Town”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of March to August’s song “Whiskey Town” from their forthcoming album Highway 75, which is set for release later this year. This song will be released on February 27th. The album was recorded and mixed by Darren Crisp.
“Whiskey Town” is Derrick Mears on vocals and acoustic guitar and Jodi Mears on lap steel guitar.
As Derrick Mears tell is, “‘Whiskey Town’ is a song from the new upcoming concept album entitled “Highway 75” from March to August. The album contains components of written prose in addition to music and chronicles the story of a long haul trucker who drives the same stretch of highway as he battles addiction, remorse and begins to help people along the way as a means of coping in search of redemption for his transgressions. Here are two excerpts from the story. One that introduces the album and the second which leads into the song ‘Whiskey Town.'”
Thoughtful with a touch of sorrow for easier times, this song draws you in fully: “feels like fractured memories are all I’m leaving here, and the good ones they’ve all seemed to disappear, so everything I own’s in the back seat of this car.”
