Kalyn Fay “Windsong”

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Kalyn Fay’s song “Windsong” from their forthcoming album Awisvnv (Garden), which is set for release later this year via Horton Records. The album was produced and recorded by Scott Bell at Closet Studios; mixed and mastered by D. James Goodwin, with horn and cello arrangements by Matt Magerkurth.
“Windsong” is Kalyn Fay on vocals and acoustic guitar; Matt Magerkurth on cello; Mike Cameron on saxophone; Stephen Schultz on upright bass; Jake Lynn on drums and percussion; and Penny Pitchlynn on background vocals.
As Kalyn tells us, “I wrote that song when I was in Arkansas and feeling very displaced. It was a way to sonically point back to a space where I could locate myself again. Here’s the sound that I’m going to use to call myself back, so I never lose myself here.”
This video was created by Loren Waters. This song has an intrinsic ease about it, even as it addresses a sense of being off balance. The vocals sometimes sound like the wind calling, which in effect sounds very comforting. The video supplies relaxed and serene footage of Kalyn and others in natural settings, which supports the messages of finding ourselves again when we feel lost.
