Gina tells us “‘Smoky Mountain High’ is the most personal song on the record for me. My husband and I eloped in the Smoky Mountains with just the two of us, a minister, and the mountains. Tennessee has become our special place and I wanted to capture that moment in a song. I grew up on songs like Ronnie Milsap’s ‘Smoky Mountain Rain’ and the bluegrass classic ‘Rocky Top’ which paint such vivid pictures. This is my attempt to do the same and to tell my own Smoky Mountain story.”
This song shares individual memories with universally memorable lines like “Smoky mountain high, I was yours and you were mine that summer day.” It’s catchy like crazy.
