Natalie Del Carmen “Plans Upon Plans”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Natalie Del Carmen’s song “Plans Upon Plans” from her forthcoming album Pastures, due January 30 via Torrez Music Group. This song will be available on October 1o. Pastures was produced and engineered by Brunjo with assistant engineering by Ayden Marshall. It was recorded at The Warehouse in Kingston Springs, Tenessee; mixed by Brandon Bell, and mastered by Eric Conn.

“Plans Upon Plans” is Natalie Del Carmen on vocals and acoustic guitar; Tanir Morrison on bass and drums;  Jordan Ezquerro on piano and organ; Amelia Eisenhaeur on fiddle and banjo.

Natalie tells Americana Highways: “The pressure to amount, find yourself, and prove something is a constant that we can depend on at any age. I often feel pulled between two selves: one that craves the spontaneity of an artist’s life, and another that longs for stability. I’m a natural planner. I find comfort in things I can control. ‘Plans Upon Plans’ is about realizing that most of the things I thought I could hold onto are a lot harder to pin down. Life has a way of constantly teaching me that it can’t be fully planned. It’s also a nod to anyone trying to build a creative life in a world that doesn’t always get it. All the small wins that never make a headline.”

Although Natalie was raised in LA, her acoustic style and easy going reflective vocal style are a back porch charm. This song gently addresses those times you just need to let it go and start on a new journey: “I gave up all I had and bailed out, and plans are just plans now.”  The brushes on the drums and the banjo and fiddle enrich Natalie’s reflective vocals and buoy the song with just the right type of casual support.
