Americana Highways presents this premiere of Rene Lopez’s song “Please Don’t Give Up” from his forthcoming album A New York Lie, set for release on November 14. The album was produced by Patrick Sansone (Wilco), engineered and mixed by Mike Napolitano, and mastered by Brent Lambert at Kitchen Mastering. The album was recorded at Grand Street Recording in Brooklyn, NY and its graphic design was by Brody Lowe with photo by Alejandro Padrón “Gino.”
“Please Don’t Give Up” is Rene Lopez on acoustic guitar and vocals; Margo Valiente on vocals; Jim Parker on electric guitar; Greg Wieczorek on drums and congas; Brett Bass on bass; Annie Taylor Sloan on pedal steel; and Patrick Sansone on background vocals.
Swirls of pedal steel set the stage for this country waltz, as the confessional song of human failings and rebirth unfolds. Classic and endearing, Rene Lopez really connects with the listener’s heart. As Rene tells us, “‘Please Don’t Give Up’ is my redemption song — it’s about falling hard, standing back up, and asking the people you love not to count you out. I’ve lived every line of it.”
