“Believe (what you don’t believe)” is Michael Landgarten on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Max Yassky on drums and percussion; Nick Katz on bass; Damon Smith on organ and keyboards; and Jack Gulielmetti on electric guitar.

As Michael tells us, “This song is about acceptance. The protagonist has hit rock bottom – totally lost, hopeless, no point of going on, lost love, lost everything. And a result of his own choices and isolation. But has found some freedom in the loss – “everything is gone, everything I’ve known, except me.” He starts to feel the aliveness and creativity of being fully emptied out, no identity that has to be held up, just life, just being. Hard to believe that life with no attachments can feel so good.”

Pretty acoustic guitar melodies wind casually around the positive groundings of living on your own: “once there was a way to dig out of this hole, once there was a way to find my way home, get there on my own,” and then “we’ll see who’s left when the dust clears, everything is gone… except me.” The song picks up to a heavier declaration of empowerment, and erupts in joyful, cathartic release.
