Meghan Clarisse has found a new spin on a notion as old as the wind: the specialness that lovers feel together. “Copper and Quartz,” often found together in the natural world, provide a metaphor for the habit that lovers sometimes unconsciously form of simply being in each other’s company most of the time. Let Meghan sing it to you.
“Copper and Quartz” is a love story. I was hiking with my boyfriend and my aunt in Mesa Arizona near an old abandoned mine and I commented on the quartz in the ground. My aunt (who knows seriously everything) said that means there is copper nearby because copper and quartz are always found together. That sounded like a song to me and I hadn’t written a love song in quite some time so I wrote this for my boyfriend. – Meghan Clarisse
