Sara Melson “Your Sweet Love”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Sara Melson’s version of Lee Hazlewood’s song “Your Sweet Love” from her forthcoming album Elixir, which is set to be released later this year. Elixir was produced and mixed by Matt Orenstein, and mastered by Rob Kleiner.

“Your Sweet Love” is Sara Melson on vocals, keys, and guitar; and Matt Orenstein on keys, synths, guitar, bass, percussion, and programming.

This video was shot by Antonio Stellato with editing and coloring by Shane Wise and François Maurin. Against the backdrop of pastel curtains and fabrics in a brightly lit room, Sara sings of the sweet love that sees a person through. There’s a breathless quality and a confessional atmosphere to this song which expresses both joy and longing, and the video captures that spirit quite nicely.

As Sara says: “To me, this song is both sad and joyful at the same time. There is so much gratitude contained in the lyrics of the chorus, “your sweet love sees me through.” Love – in any form – can be the impetus to find the resilience to keep going. This song is about loneliness. It’s also about deep gratitude – for the force that keeps you going, amidst all the noise. It could be romantic, platonic, familial, or even divine. It’s love, in its purest form.”
