Kyle Morgan and Tamar Korn “Late September”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Kyle Morgan and Tamar Korn’s song “Late September” from their forthcoming album of acoustic duets Darkening Green, which is set for release on August 15 via Jalopy Records. Darkening Green was recorded by Ryan Dieringer in Welterweight Sound Studio, and mastered by Don Fierro. Cover photos were by Eli Smith and
graphic design was done by Sean Riley.
“Late September” is Tamar Korn on vocals; Kyle Morgan on vocals and guitar; Jared Engel on bass; and Wyndham Baird on piano. Right out of the gate, the old time loungey harmonies are gripping, and the song proceeds to wind a timeless tale in a delightfully timeless style. The piano playing is a traipse through the park in late September and the vocals are enchanting. This duo may remind some folks of Ordinary Elephant.
“Late September” is one of my earliest flirtations with country music as a songwriter. Despite having never been included on a previous release, it has endured over the years as a staple of my original repertoire. As Tamar and I considered songs to include on Darkening Green, it quickly emerged as a perfect candidate, both stylistically and thematically: an ode to the autumns of my youth in rural central Pennsylvania. -Kyle Morgan
