Rip Gerber – “Limited Speed”

Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Rip Gerber’s song “Limited Speed” from his forthcoming album. The album was produced by Josh Riley, engineered by Connor Wang, and mastered by Josh Sebek.

“Limited Speed” is Rip Gerber on vocals and guitar; Jake Baynes on electric guitar; Griffin Dinardo on drums; Luc Hyhaus on acoustic guitar; Angela Morano on keyboards and vocals;  and Jacob Schneiderman on bass.

Rip first wrote this song in 1987 and it’s entangled in quite a story that culminates with Rip singing the rough version to a cop who had pulled him over – the first audience for it. The music video, directed and produced by Rip Gerber, sets imagery of the the relaxed scenery of Nashville’s 12 South neighborhood interspersed against Zoë Barry’s high-speed racetrack maneuvers. All the while, Barry’s McLaren Artura GT4 is on display to admire. videography for the video was courtesy of Gonzalez Media Productions. The song is a new twist on a timeless theme, and as such, is very refreshing.

“Limited Speed” was born on I-85, where a heartbreak-fueled speeding infraction forced me to sing this song to a South Carolina state trooper, who felt so sorry for love-lorn me that he let me off with a warning and a laugh. It’s a new twist on the classic first date song: she wants loving at breakneck speed, but I want it in the slow lane. I’m thrilled to have Zoe Barry of DART Racing in the official music video, her McLaren blazing through the visuals, embodying the song’s restless spirit. – Rip Gerber
