Rachel McIntyre Smith Honeysuckle Friend (Deluxe Edition)

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Rachel McIntyre Smith’s EP Honeysuckle Friend (Deluxe Edition), which is set for release on June 27. Honeysuckle Friend (Deluxe Edition) was produced by Dran Michael and mixed by Michael Kight. The deluxe edition contains four more songs that didn’t appear on the first EP.

Musicians on the EP are Rachel McIntyre Smith on vocals; Dran Michael on acoustic guitar, banjo, bass, mandolin, and electric guitar; Andy Ellison on steel guitar and Johnny Smith on drums.

Rachel McIntyre tell us: “‘Honeysuckle Friend’ has been the most fun musical project that I have worked on, and I didn’t want it to end. I really liked the theme and the visual imagery that came along with it. When I was originally creating this EP, I wrote a LOT of songs for it but only chose five of them to be on the original EP. However, once I realized how fun this theme and project was, I wanted to squeeze every last drop out of it. The new deluxe version features three other songs that I wrote alongside the rest of the songs on “Honeysuckle Friend.”

“The deluxe version rounds out the project with nostalgia, romance, and comfort. “The Attic” is about my unsuccessful attempt to clean out the attic with my mom. “Hummingbird Woman” talks about finding romance despite being hard to pin down. “My Place” describes finally being at ease and comfortable after feeling out of place for so long.

“As a whole, “Honeysuckle Friend” describes the time in life where your friends are family and you’re settling into adulthood. My hope is that listeners will be able to find part of their story within my lyrics and know that they aren’t alone in whatever journey they are going through.”

Enjoy the pretty songbird vocals in these richly layered acoustic songs, reminiscing about growing up and reflecting. It’s got banjo, tambourine, easy guitar and shuffle beats and is really quite winsome. And, in the end, “it feels like things will turn our all right.”
