It’s such a large part of our human relationship patterns nowadays for there to be something wrong to complain about. So what do we do if everything is simply all right?  We’ve built up so many walls and defenses – how does it feel when it’s just open and easy? Selken explores the realization that a healthy relationship just might need to be consciously embraced, and that we might not have a fallback way to “be” under these conditions. It’s an honest notion to consider. The percussion style here adds a layer of earthy bounce as the exploration vibe carries the song.

This song is about how novel it is for me to experience a relationship without any toxic or controlling behavior. Unadulterated happy love songs, for me, usually come off a little delusional. Heartbreak is so much easier to write from an honest place. What do you do when you’re faced with a genuinely healthy relationship — no push-pull, no desperate longing or yearning or betrayal or red flags? So instead I just complained about how my partner is a terrible muse. – Heather Styka
