Pat Hatt “Lyin’ to Yourself”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Pat Hatt’s song “Lyin’ to Yourself,” from his forthcoming self-titled album, which was recorded at Tiny Creatures Studio in Joshua Tree, California and is set for release in July. The album was produced, engineered and mixed by Alex Newport, and mastered by Carl Saff.
“Lyin’ to Yourself” is Pat Hatt on vocals and guitar; Andrew Burton on lead guitar; Alex Newport on bass; and Nick Lowry on drums. Pat Hatt’s songwriting showcases his ability to peer into the human psyche and make keen observations. Did you ever notice that you have a head full of voices, all of them telling you that you can’t do it? “Always blaming someone else….?” Crafted as a roots rock style anthem, this song shines a searchlight on the awful negativity both within and without.
“Lyin’ To Yourself” is kind of a ballad that explores every human’s inherent ability to
get in their own way. To make excuses. To keep living a life they don’t actually
want. Essentially, lie to themselves. We all do it, and trust me, I’ve been the king of
it. I think I wrote this song from the perspective of who I am now, looking back at my old self. – Pat Hatt
