AJAYE – “Never Settle Down (Live at the Hen House)”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of AJAYE’s song “Never Settle Down” from her forthcoming album Silverline (Live at The Henhouse), set for release in October. The album was produced by Joe E., mixed by Steve Dawson, and recorded at The Hen House Studio in East Nashville.
“Never Settle Down” was written by AJAYE & Joni Delaurier, and is AJAYE on acoustic guitar and vocals; and Joe E. on dobro. This video of the song being played by the duo was created by Jason and Chelsea of Music Neighbors. Black and white footage of the pair playing in the studio underscores the timelessness of AJAYE’s songwriting. She has been selected as a New Folk Finalist at this year’s Kerrville Folk Festival, and this song makes it easy to understand why: it’s pretty, easygoing, and fluid with a passionate wish for things to always stay fresh and adventurous with the one you love.
“Never Settle Down” captures the tension between longing and freedom — the kind of freedom that doesn’t come from a white picket fence. There’s nothing better than hopping in the car with the one you love, the open road ahead of you, and nowhere you’re supposed to be but together. – AJAYE
