Robert Deitch “3 Church, 2 Tavern Town”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Robert Deitch’s song “3 Church, 2 Tavern Town” from his forthcoming album Legacy, which is slated for release on June 20. This song will be out on May 9. Legacy was produced by Bryan Vanderpool and recorded at Golden Bear Studio. This song was co-written by Robert with Roger Murrah and Carson Chamberlain.

“3 Church, 2 Tavern Town” is Robert Deitch on vocals and guitar; Bryan Vanderpool on guitars; Eric Haywood on pedal steel;  Phil Midnight Smith on bass; Tanner Taylor on piano and keys; Jim Stevens on drums and percussion; and Sarah Vanderpool on background vocals.

This song is a balanced blend of honesty and lightly jesting as it serves up a helping of what’s oftentimes the reality of small town life. As frequently as you need a church as a place of peace and worship, when night falls, you need the counterbalance of a tavern or two for joyous revelry and cathartic release. When you think about it, a “3 Church, 2 Tavern Town” is the prescription for staying emotionally sane. Thanks to Robert Deitch for pointing it out with a spacious, rockin’ country style.

Matthew 6:21 states: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”

We didn’t write this song with our arrow pointed towards scripture, but I think what we wrote, is a redneck version. – Robert
