Anne Harris “Can’t Find My Way”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Anne Harris’ song “Can’t Find My Way” from her forthcoming album I Feel it Once Again, which was produced and mixed by Colin Linden, recorded by Colin Linden and Anne Harris, and mastered by Kim Rosen at Knack Mastering. The album will be available on May 9 via Rugged Road Records.
“Can’t Find My Way” is Anne on vocals, fiddle, and mandolin; Colin Linden on guitars, mandotar, and bass; Jerry Roe (Rodney Crowell, Brittany Spencer) on drums; and Regina McCrary on vocals.
Reflective and taking it nice and easy as it builds, this song is an instant daydream: “Lost on this open road, where I am, I don’t know,” with footage of hilly, winding country roads in the video to support the feeling the song pulls up. The fiddle is slow and magnificent, the song of the passage of time and the relations with familiar spaces along the way will stick with you, and the punctuated harmonies by Regina McCrary are the icing on the cake.
I grew up in the rolling farmlands and woods of rural southwest Ohio. Those roads and that land are indelibly etched into my dreamscape. This song is about my family’s journey of aging and dementia, and how over time those roads, once familiar as the lines on our palms, can reconfigure and twist. – Anne Harris
