Sid Hillman “Even Things”
Americana Highways is hosting this from his forthcoming album Oxygen, which was co-produced by Sid and the Sid Hillman Quartet’s drummer, Mike Taklender. Oxygen will be available today via Rare Bird Recordings. This represents the first solo album from the Quartet’s frontman.
The musicians on “Even Things” are Sid on guitar and vocals; Mike Taklender on drums; and Andrew Bush on bass and six string bass. Taking it nice and slow like a languid river in the summertime, this song will ease your mind and evaporate your worries. Sid floats his message of letting things go on an atmospheric soundscape. As for the song’s message, shouldn’t that be the whole point of the day, at least once in awhile? As Paul McCartney said once in a very different style of song, but one that offered the same sentiment: “Let it Be.”
This is a song about letting go, not trying so hard to control things, manage things, and seeing that there’s a beauty in taking a step back to allow things to move of their own accord. – Sid Hillman
