Circus Mind “The NoLA Song”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Circus Mind’s song “The NoLA Song” from their forthcoming album, which was produced and mixed by Chris Fasulo at East Coast Recording, and mastered by Dave Roman at 4130 Mastering. This song comes out close on the heels of their recent release Bioluminate, and is available just in time for New Orleans Jazz Fest in celebration of the Crescent City.
“The NoLA Song” is Mark Rechler (songwriter) on vocals and keys; Brian Duggan on guitar; Matt Fox on bass; Dan Roth on drums; Michael Amendola on sax; and Steve Finkelstein on percussion.
This song brings Circus Mind’s NOLA funk (with the groove of the saxophone) and rock ‘n roll blended style into sharp focus, and the result is healthily festive and exuberant. It opens as Mark sings in a growly voice “I wanna go to New Orleans, I’m hungry!” and then lists a few of the city’s favorite haunts, and then, ultimately, the question is popped: “Won’t you come to NoLA with the stars in your eyes? Won’t you come to NoLA where the food feeds your soul?” It’s brassy, soulful, and groovy.
New Orleans is the single best place in the universe for food, drink, and a party, its left an indelible mark on my soul and like many of us who know its gifts….we yearn to get back there whenever possible. – Mark Rechler
