Kent Parker – “Silence of the Night”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Kent Parker’s song “Silence of the Night” from his forthcoming album The Way. The Way was produced by Gabriel Millan; engineered by Thomas Juth, Rafael Pirela, Jhonatan Faria, Jordan Esopa, Kaitlyn Walker, Gibran Sponchiado, Rob Burrell, Christian Carollo, Gabriel Millan, and Tate Sablatura; mixed by Javier Garza; and mastered by Carlos Freitas with assistance by Natalia Bohorquez.
PBS Passport will begin airing a documentary about the project with Charlie McCoy on April 10th.
“Silence of the Night” is Kent Parker on lead vocals; Brent Mason on electric guitars; Daniel Fraire on acoustic guitars; Gideon Klein on pedal steel, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin; Sean Hurley on bass; Aaron Sterling on drums; Charlie McCoy on harmonica and vibraphone; Jason Webb on piano; Brandon Ratcliff and Suzanne Cox on background vocals; and Nashville Recording Strings Orchestra on strings (conducted by David Angell and arranged by Daniel Fraire with programming by Gabriel Millan).
The video was produced by Carl Diebold. The song is gentle with a personal feel and an expression of purity and love. The collaboration with Charlie McCoy on easy, melodious harmonica is a timeless and dreamlike treat. Watching the whole band come together in the studio footage of the video is the cherry on top of the treat.
This album became something much deeper than I ever expected. It’s not just a collection of songs, but a reflection of my journey—an unfolding of stories and personal experiences I’ve gathered over the years, almost like a subconscious release of thoughts and memories. Recording this album felt like peeling back layers I didn’t even know were there, and “Silence of the Night” really embodies that for me. It’s raw, intimate, and quietly powerful. I’ve always kept things close, but this project pushed me to let go of the stories I’d been holding onto for so long. It’s both humbling and freeing to finally share them with the world. – Kent Parker
