Rip Gerber – “Mister Happy”

Rip Gerber

Americana Highways presents this video premiere of Rip Gerber’s new song “Mister Happy” from his forthcoming album Three-Chord Town, which is scheduled for release on June 20. Three-Chord Town was produced by Josh Riley, engineered by Connor Wang and mastered by Josh Sebek..

“Mister Happy” is Rip Gerber on vocals and guitar; Josh Riley on vocals; Angela Morano on keyboards; Jake Baynes on electric guitar; Mike Petillo on acoustic guitar; Jacob Schneiderman on bass; and Griffin Dinardo on drums. The video here is courtesy of Gonzales Media Production.

With a delivery that’s a combination of a rock and funk groove that will remind you of the extended jams of The Who on “Eminence Front” (although not exactly), Rip Gerber brings you a fresh take on the sweetness of life and the sorrows of living with the shadow of mortality. With footage from the band playing this song in black and white that highlights their powerful, heavy-hitting presence interspersed with footage of runners,  the question “why do we burn out here so alive, only to crawl back home to die?” is brought home. Inspired by Burning Man, this song reminds you to live.

My third single, a “Burning Man”-inspired song, is titled “Mr. Happy.” It’s a tribute to my dear friend Erik Smith, who passed away suddenly in his sleep, leaving behind a wonderful wife and three beautiful daughters (all proceeds from the song will be donated to St. Jude’s Research Center for Children). – Rip Gerber
