Ron Sowell – “Everything That Goes Round Comes Round”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Mountain Stage Music Director Ron Sowell’s song “Everything That Goes Round Comes Round” from his forthcoming album Dance Till the Music Stops, which is set for release on May 9. Dance Til the Music Stops was produced by Ron Sowell, mixed by Dan Bailey and Ron Sowell, with tracking by Dan Bailey and Mira Costa and background vocals sung together around one mic. It was mastered by Eric Conn at Independent Mastering in Nashville.

This song has a Latin based rhythmic seasoning with Ryan providing a ska back beat on the chorus with a spaghetti western flavored solo twist. It’s ultra dynamic and gratifying and a real treat from the director of Mountain Stage. Give it a listen and add it to your collection of quality folk style music.

“Everything That Goes Round Comes Round” is Ron Sowell on vocals and acoustic guitar; Ryan Kennedy on electric guitar; Ammed Solomon on drums and percussion; Lars Swanson on fretless electric bass; Jeff Haught on piano and organ; and Mira Costa (The Sea The Sea), Kira Small (Martina McBride), and Kathy Mattea on backing vocals.

The Law of Karma has been expressed in many ways – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,“ “As you sow, so shall you reap,” and even scientifically “For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.” In the hills and hollers of West Virginia you very often hear people say it this way “Everything that goes round comes round.”

The song had been knocking around in my brain for several years. During COVID I invited my long time co-writer Jon Wikstom to help me bring it across the finish line. We tweaked the verses, wrote a bridge and shaped it up musically. My attitude towards all of the songs on the album was to not force them into any particular genre, but to let them be what they wanted to be. So this one reflects a lot of influences and foreshadows the diversity of styles to come on the other other 9 songs. – Ron Sowell
