Jefferson Ross – “Power”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Jefferson Ross’ song “Power” from his forthcoming album Backstage Balladeer, which is set for release on March 28th. This song will be available, though, on February 14th. On Backstage Balladeer, Jefferson produced, mixed and engineered the entire project as well as playing every instrument you hear.
It’s never repeated often enough that kindness goes an incredibly long way in life, and Jefferson harnesses this truism directly in a way that’s also easy to relate to as morally universal. Bright sounding strings, a jaunty rhythm, and organ set the tone as Jefferson spins out the story of factory workers, angry kids, partners in relationship, all kinds of folks who want power: “you want the power, whether you’re high or low, everybody wants to grab ahold of power, nobody wants to let it go.” It’s a lot worth thinking about.
Just about everyone wants some kind of power on some kind of level. It’s how one goes about achieving it that matters. Kindness and mutual respect count for everything. – Jefferson Ross.
