C. Daniel Boling – “The Sycamore Tree”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of C. Daniel Boling’s song “The Sycamore Tree” from his recently released album Love, Dan. The album was co-produced by Jono Manson and Daniel Boling, recorded and mixed by Jono Manson at The Kitchen Sink Studio in Santa Fe, and mastered by David Glasser.
Originally situated as the album closer on the record, this song may not have gotten quite the number of ears on it that it deserves. Bare bones, and stripped down to C. Daniel on vocals and gentle banjo, this is the good stuff. “So careful so your mama won’t see, come meet me by the Sycamore tree, strip our bodies down to our souls” it’s an ode to young love, sneaking off to skinny dip in the creek, and then it turns into a love that’s lasted for years, while meeting by the Sycamore tree evolves becomes a symbol for sneaking off to be alone together. It’s timeless. The images are pretty and the song is too.
As C. Daniel puts it, “We may be getting old–no maybe about it–but we’re not dead yet!”
