Robin Jackson – “Heart in My Hand”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Robin Jackson’s song “Heart in My Hand” from his forthcoming album Silver Lining, which is set for release on Feb 1.  Silver Lining was produced and engineered by James Villa with additional production, engineering and mixing by Chet Lyster (Lucinda Williams). It was mastered by Jon Neufeld, with album photo credits and design by Jax Cruz Media.

“Heart in My Hand” is Haley Johnsen on vocals; Robin Jackson on vocals; Chet Lyster on electric and acoustic guitars and percussion; Barra Brown on drums and percussion; James Villa on electric and acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards, piano, and percussion; Joseph Berman on electric guitars; Asher Fulero on keyboards, organ, synth and piano; Michael Dougherty on bass; and Alexis Mahler on violin, viola, and cello.

The vocals entwining on this duet is spine tinglingly good, and while the strings and piano resonate with spender, the song embodies the struggles of supporting someone we love. It’s quite enjoyable.

Featuring lush and emotional piano, strings, and folk-pop aesthetic, I wrote “Heart in my Hand” when my partner was going through a hard time and healing from some trauma around her family. The song is about recognizing the feat it can take to simply be in a relationship when we come from trauma or a hard family background, and how that informs us. It is also an ode to the strength it can take to stay by someone’s side who you love, no matter what. It’s about being there 100% through thick and thin and being someone you can count on. The amazing Grammy ballot nominated Haley Johnsen brings this track to new emotional heights. It’s produced by James Villa and Chet Lyster (Lucinda Williams). – Robin Jackson
