Everett Wren “Starlight”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Everett Wren’s song “Starlight” from his forthcoming album Cascades, which is set to release on January 17. The album was produced and recorded by Everett Wren with additional recording by Andrew Oedel; it was mixed by Andrew Oedel and mastered by Kevin Butler at Test Tube Audio in Austin.

“Starlight” is Everett on lead vocals, fiddle, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and percussion; Taylor Turner on upright bass and harmony vocals;  Sasha K.A on drums; Matt E. Bradshaw on trumpet and harmony vocals; and Kate Heron on harmony vocals.

The music for “Starlight” is driving and dark, with an energetic baseline and more punctuated guitar, with melodious trumpet and fiddle solos, and the effect is to mimic the wide open spaces and movements of the universe. Everett aims his musical quests for  humankind’s meaning to the far flung spaces of the cosmos.

Looking up to the sky, I find it comforting to know my life and time on earth is so small in a universe of billions of stars, some of whose light has taken billions of years to reach us. – Everett Wren
