Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of the song “If I Stop Moving,” the title track from Gary’s upcoming 3rd album as The Sensational Country Blues Wonders! If I Stop Moving, I’ll Fall From the Sky The album will be available on October 25, and was produced by Gary with the music performed by Nashville Master Tracks.
How often do you dream you’re flying? How often are you anxious about your ever-repopulating “to-do” list? This song addresses that place in between checking the list and hitting the ground, in a dreamscape escape. “I don’t ever want to come back to this earth. Right now I’m flying high. If I stop moving I’ll fall from the sky.” Sadly, it’s a slice of the truth, nicely presented by SCBW with hints of mid- Beatles (post India) in the music. The video is an engaging little animé vignette of dreaming you’re flying.
The idea that being busy is always better than being idle is ingrained in all of us as Americans. We drive ourselves to the point of exhaustion. With this song, I’m trying to show how tiring that addiction to being busy can be. I’m also trying to highlight the feeling of anxiety one gets when contemplating slowing down.
