Amanda McCarthy is on lead vocals and every instrument on this song, including guitar and percussion and more. “Is it my conscience or just the alcohol, maybe I should shut this down like a 2am last call… I don’t want to break my rules, but I can’t help but find you in every window….every blazing neon sign…I look for you in every bar downtown… to chase your memory down.” This is a song about trying to get over it, unsuccessfully, with an easy pace and high energy opening your heart on the choruses, no wonder it’s the artist’s favorite.
“Every Bar Downtown” is a highly personal song that I wrote about my former toxic trait of looking for people in all the wrong places, when I knew I shouldn’t be looking for them at all. When the inspiration to write the song came to me, I had an empowering moment where I was able to identify this and overcome it. But I had to leave it all in the song, and I’m grateful to my co-writer Kristian Veech for helping me articulate a part of myself I’d hidden away for so long. This may truly be my favorite song I’ve ever written, so far. – Amanda McCarthy
