Megan Burtt – Witness
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Megan Burtt’s album Witness, available today. The album was produced by Megan Burtt with John McVey; mixed by John McVey; mastered by Anna Frick; and recorded at Cinder Sound Studio in Longmont, Colorado.
Musicians on the album are Megan Burtt on vocals, background vocals, acoustic guitar, felt piano and electric guitar; John McVey on electric guitar, loops and background vocals: Anthony da Costa on acoustic and electric guitar; Kramer Kelling on bass; Braxton Kahn on drums and percussion; James “Downtown” Williams on percussion and drums; Eric Moon on keys, Hammond organ and synths; Adam Tressler on electric guitar and banjo; Casey Sidwell on bass; Will Honaker on keys and synths; Tomek Miernowski on electric guitar; Joel Ansett on background vocals; Louis Cato on bass; and Jeremy McDonald on bass.
At times ominous with a rumbling, easygoing baseline, and other times featuring Megan Burtt’s breathless reverberant vocals, this album runs adeptly through the ways we all thought things would be different by now: with reflection, self analysis and soul searching suffused in every song. Occasional touches of Hammond organ and banjo are spices on the electric guitar dreamscapes and vocal ambience.
“Witness” is about bearing witness to my life in a way I never had before. I took a leap and got brave and sang out loud things that might seem better kept inside. I made it for me, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to share it with you.” – Megan Burtt
