Mac Leaphart – Motel Breakfast

Mac Leaphart has a new album for your collection, Motel Breakfast. Motel Breakfast was produced, mixed, and engineered by Brad Jones at Alex the Great studio.   The album exhibits a musical depth and confidence that designates it for greatness, and whether or not it falls into the right hands, the universe knows.

The album comes on strong and gets your motor running with songs that sometimes have that exciting Stones- like energy, and sometimes sound like stirring, electric Dylan.  Album opener “Rock & Roll Hey” is a case in point for both, with violin and a deep roots rockin’ set up, leading up to pure joy. It taps into something universal that’ll make you feel like you know this already, automatically, although it’s an original take.

“Walking Slow Down a Busy Street” features Ben Chapman’s gritty contributions in this sexy groovy number.  “Shake a Leg” is another in Mac’s signature bluesy rock style with a vulnerability in his vocals playing against the certainty of the groove.

“Blue Ridge Blue” carries the same energy as the rest of the album but takes a more acoustic turn, in rich layers with pretty harmonies and a bluegrass mode. Mac hangs out in this style for the next one too, with some serious banjo and pedal steel in the mix: “Girl From Tuscaloosa,” who’s making her way into his heart.

Kenny Vaughan guests on guitar on “Ain’t No Pistol” and the groove is back for a good long ride: “Nashville was a long shot but we said, hey, give it all you got.”

“Rosey” is bursting with pride, has another fantastic groove and features Quincey Meeks on guitar: “Rosey, Rosey, Rosey / I’m buzzing like a honey bee / You really got me going and feeling fine / Rosey, Rosey, Rosey/ You’re so pretty soft and sweet/ So glad I got you hanging on my vine.”

Mac Leaphart demonstrates a musical strength and a memorable songwriting ability that comes through on each and every song on the album. The production is powerful and thoroughly groovin’ and immediately enjoyable to listen to.  Find the music and more information on his website here: https://macleaphart.com/motel-breakfast
