Alternative-indie Brooklyn-based band, Crumb, returns to Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl after three years a couple of Tuesday nights ago, bringing a mellow atmosphere to all. Crumb is very distinct in their music and every time I hear them, I feel like I am escaping the modern popular music and dialing down to earth through Crumb. Their third studio album, AMAMA, incorporates a sense of jazz, and smooth-sounding synths which are thoughtfully placed throughout each song.

Crumb mixed their setlist from their debut self-titled EP to their new album, leaving fans satisfied with the variety. Social media these days allows older songs to resurface which also brings attention to the band as a whole. A trending song from Crumb from their second album in 2021, “Ice Melt” was also played on Tuesday, and the energy arose once the crowd heard the first few beats. I also noticed how true of fans the Nashvillians were for Crumb because the second the first note played for their hit “Ghostride,” the whole room sang with the lead singer, Lila Ramani.

The production design was captivating and nostalgic, using a giant colorful acrylic flap that would change to different song designs. Production design for concerts can seem like the “hook” because it is what you see before the band comes out, and you already make a perception about them. When I first noticed the giant flaps moving, not only was I intrigued but found myself pondering how they even coordinated those with songs?! Truly, you cannot get bored at a Crumb concert, and if they are in your town, go support them by checking them out!
