Silas Nello – “Tell Me What I Need”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Silas Nello’s song “Tell Me What I Need” from his forthcoming EP From West Hollywood, which is set for release on September 13 via Blackbird Record Label. From West Hollywood was produced by Claire Morison and Silas Nello; recorded at Wild Horizon Sound; and engineered, mixed and mastered by Claire Morison.
“Tell Me What I Need” is Silas Nello on lead vocals, background vocals, acoustic guitar, claps, and snaps. Exciting and set up in what could be a slowed down R & B hand clap rhythm, Silas Nello plays and sings you a tale of the troubadour’s traveling blues. “Everything’s gone straight to hell and I’m sure glad it ain’t me… woke up in New York City on the bathroom floor… I ain’t got no friends in Memphis… ain’t got no friends in Kansas.”
I wrote ‘Tell Me What I Need’ with my dear friend Jenna Clark back when we were running around the Dallas/Fort Worth circuit. The song was loosely based on a real life Bukowski-esque experience I had in New York City mixed with tales of cities we had traversed through on our own individual paths. Simply put, this is just a tune about cutting your teeth on the road and paying those dues. – Silas Nello
