Josh Lovelace -“Miracles”

Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Josh Lovelace’s song “Miracles” from his forthcoming album Shelters. The album was produced and engineered by Josh with additional engineering by Thomas Dulin and Jim Stewart; with mixing by Sean Moffitt, James Joseph, and Will Reagan. It was mastered by Joe Causey.  Josh is a member of the hugely popular group NEEDTOBREATHE, in case his name rings a bell.

“Miracles” is Josh Lovelace on pianos, organs, guitars, and programming; Aaron Sterling on drums and percussion; Emily Retsas on bass; Tyler Burkum on guitar; and Bri Bryant and Jon Bryant on background vocals.

The video was directed by Josh Shoemaker. Hazy in black and white, with occasional red colored scenes, there are sharp and unfocused areas contrasting as the video (and the song) delve into the imagination and parts of our inner selves. Josh hears broken records wasting our focus, and expresses that universal feeling that we are running out of time within the social noise all around us, and steps out to say:  “I want to believe in miracles, I want you to cure the cynical.” A voice of reason piercing through the haze.

As a songwriter and artist, albums represent seasons of life and moments in time. The song “Miracles” is my attempt at being as honest as I can about the inner doubts and fears that I’ve felt over the last few years. Life is really tough and for me personally, there have been many days where it was hard to just get out of bed. We all want something to believe in when the world feels out of control. I hope this song is relatable to anyone else who has been looking for answers in a really noisy and distorted time.

To be honest, I am very excited but a little nervous to share this album with people. It’s a vulnerable project of songs that come from my real life experiences. I’ve almost given up on this record many times, feeling that I didn’t have what it takes to go to those dark places in my head. But here

I am, on the other side of it, thankful and ready to share a part of my hopefully relatable story with others.

Shelters is a reminder for all of us that even though life can sometimes seem confusing, unfair, and really hard, it’s also beautiful because of the people we get to share it with.— Josh
