Jamie McLean – “Summer of Who Knows When?”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Jamie McLean’s song “Summer of Who Knows When?” from his forthcoming album One Step Forward, which is scheduled for release on October 25. One Step Forward was produced by Jamie McLean; mixed by Ken Rich at Grand Street Recording; and mastered by Whynot Jansveld.
“Summer of Who Knows When?” is Jamie McLean on guitar and vocals; Brian Griffin on drums and vocals; Chris Anderson on bass and vocals; and Jon Solo on keyboards. This is the first single available from the new album. Is there anything that feels more like summertime than heartland rock? Jamie says he had Tom Petty on his mind in composing this song, and you sure can tell it’s soaked in the vibe. Nostalgia and those summers of youth and hangin’ back rhythms. This one is sweet as they come.
“Summer of Who Knows When” is a throwback to childhood memories from the best days of summer. A first kiss, learning to drive, late night swims, cold beers at the beach. A time when innocence meets experience and wonder. The opening lick immediately made me think of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and the band and I lean into that groove. Classic American rock and roll. I name check Petty and “Running Down a Dream” in the bridge. It’s as if the ghost of Tom Petty lingers throughout this instant summer classic! – Jamie McLean
