Brass Queens – “Karma Queen”

Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Brass Queens’ song “Karma Queens” from their forthcoming album Hot Tub Sessions Vol. I, due out Oct 18th. Hot Tub Sessions Vol. I was produced by Brass Queens; recorded at Atlantic Records in NYC; engineered by Joseph Pomarico with Ross Owen; edited by David Joseph; mixed by Ian Kagey; and mastered by Oscar Zambrano.

Musicians on this song are Alex Harris on trumpet, Stephanie King on trumpet, Minerva Johnson on trumpet and aux percussion, Ally Chapel on alto sax, Jenna Murdoch on tenor sax, Elizabeth Arce on trombone, Heather Ewer on sousaphone, Ashley Baier on drums, Caitlin Cawley on aux percussion, and featuring Stephanie Young performing the solo on trombone.

This video was filmed at Atlantic Records (Paramount Plaza, NY) by Marc Basch; edited with art direction and design by Ally Chapel and produced by Brass Queens.

The horns carry the power effortlessly in this instrumental, as it was filmed and recorded in a pristine studio at Atlantic Records.  It’s notable when an instrumental song can carry itself with power, confidence and certainty like this. You won’t need lyrics to guide your emotions – empowerment is front and center all the way.

The music video really captures everyone’s personalities and the feeling of recording that day. We all felt the pressure of recording in such an iconic studio, but we also knew that our recordings wouldn’t shine unless we allowed ourselves to be who we are—full of antics, jokes and support for one another—we are thrilled with how this came across in the video.

We love that this video turned out to be like a mini episode of “The Office.” There’s that trend among freelancers to show off your “office for the day.” Our office for this recording day happened to be Atlantic Records and we are really proud of that. Karma Queen is about owning our success, so it’s very fitting. – Brass Queens
