Kimberly York – “FUN”
Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Kimberly York’s song “FUN,” from her forthcoming album, set for release in October. The album was produced by David Barbe.
“FUN” is Kimberly York on vocals; Philip McCardle on rhythm and lead guitars; John Neff on steel guitar; David Barbe on bass; Ben LeCourt on drums; and Neil Golden on keys.
Just glancing at the single artwork tells you that Kimberly York’s musical focus is a seriously good time. In a teal space suit, white motorcycle helmet and red gloves, she could have has a supporting role in this summer’s Deadpool movie. But the music is seriously talented – there’s a honky tonk art to her presentation of fun and she has clearly mastered the style. A reminder to all those who hesitate: get up and go out there, and don’t regret it. “Deep down, you know you would have had fun, ’cause baby I’m fun.”
The song FUN was primarily written on Wolf Skin Road in rural Georgia driving back from my husband’s farm in Hancock County. The short hour long drive has become automatic. We so often go back and forth that the mind has time to wander.
This particular day, I was feeling happy with life and thinking of those who turned my kind of fun down. To be fair I can be a lot, but only because I don’t want to miss a thing. I want to experience it all – all the ups and all the downs – I wanna go big! And Boy! Don’t they wish they’d gone for the ride! – Kimberly York
