Jim Patton and Sherry Brokus – “Harbortowne”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Jim Patton and Sherry Brokus’ song “Harbortowne” from their forthcoming album. The album was recorded, mixed and produced by Ron Flynt at Jumping Dog Studio in Austin, TX. It was mastered by Jerry Tubb at Terra Nova Studio in Austin.
“Harbortowne” as recorded for this video is Jim Patton on vocals and acoustic guitar; Sherry Brokus on background vocals and percussion; Alice Hasen on fiddle; and Ron Flynt on bass.
The video was produced by Ron Flynt at Jumping Dog Studio in Austin and edited by Tom Weber. Jim Patton and Sherry Brokus are known for making first rate folk songs and this is no exception. This song is an instant dancehall classic, “Let’s roll the dice, let’s cut the cards, when I get down to Harbortowne,” and the duo’s classic folk style is made sweeter by Alice Hasen on fiddle – a great merger with a timeless quality.
We recorded at Ron Flynt’s Jumping Dog Studio, where we’ve made seven albums since 2008 and recorded our live EP in 2020. We’ve been playing showcases with fiddle player Alice Hasen at various Folk Alliances and there’s a magic in what she does with us, as though she already knew the songs. So we flew her in from Memphis for the filming. – Jim Patton
