Carolyn Shulman – “Little Sparrow”

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Carolyn Shulman’s song “Little Sparrow” from her forthcoming album Heart On A Wire. Heart On A Wire is set for release on September 20.  This song will be available on June 28th.  Heart On A Wire was produced, mixed, and engineered by John McVey at Cinder Sound Studio in Longmont, Colorado.  It was mastered by Mark Fuller at Mark Fuller Mastering in Sebastopol, California.

“Little Sparrow” is Carolyn Shulman on vocals and acoustic guitar; Christian Teele on drums; Bradley Morse on upright bass; Eric Moon on accordion; Enion Pelta-Tiller on fiddle; Jen Hitt on backing vocals; and John McVey on banjo and backing vocals.

The fiddle introduces this ode to the sparrow who has its place in the universe, it has its role in begging “that sun to climb” every morning at dawn. Carolyn offers this song of encouragement to anyone who’s feeling out of place, and calming reminder that we each have our own unique calling. A rich folk song.

“Little Sparrow” celebrates the unique and valuable things that each person contributes to the world. It’s a reminder that everyone has challenges, but that those storms are temporary, and we should strive to keep going even through hard times. Although I was not consciously writing it with myself in mind at the time, I realize now it was exactly the message I needed to hear in order to keep moving forward with a career as a songwriter. I hope it inspires others to pursue their passions and keep their spirits up even through difficulties or setbacks. – Carolyn Shulman
