Heather Pierson – “Up Here in the Mountains”

Americana Highways is hosting this premiere of Heather Pierson’s song “Up Here in the Mountains” from her forthcoming album Back To The Light, which is set for release this fall. This song will be available on June 21st. Back To The Light was produced by Heather Pierson; recorded and mixed by Jason Phelps at Acadia Recording Company, Portland, Maine; and mastered by Pat Keane. The album cover art and design was by Heather, with photography by Jamie Gemmiti.

“Up Here in the Mountains” is Heather Pierson on lead vocals, piano, Wurlitzer, B3, and tenor banjo; Shawn Nadeau on bass and harmony vocals; Craig Bryan on drums, percussion, and harmony vocals; and Leah Boyd on harmony vocals.  Heather has one of those voices that sounds like timeless wind moving slowly through the trees, a perfect counterpart to this song about the mountains in their perennial glory. The touching arrangements are touching in their gentle poignancy.

In that strange summer of 2020 when we were all stuck in one place for a while, I was really grateful to be stuck at home in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This song that came out of both the yearning and the gratitude I felt during that time. – Heather Pierson
