Julian Taylor – “Running Away”
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Julian Taylor’s song “Running Away,” from his forthcoming album Pathways, due to be released on September 27 via Howling Turtle, Inc. This song will be available on May 29.
Pathways was produced and mixed Colin Linden with production assistance by Janice Powers; recorded by Darren Magierowski and Jill Zimmermann at Jukes Studio on Six Nations reserve in Ontario and also by Michael Stankiewicz at Pinhead Recorders in Nashville. It was mastered by Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound.
“Running Away” is Julian Taylor on vocals and electric guitar; Colin Linder on electric guitar and bass; Gary Craig on drums and percussion; Darcy Yates on bass; and Janice Powers on B3 organ.
This video was created by Mitch Barnes, as it plays footage of Julian and the team working things out in the studio with the song as the backdrop. This new music by Julian Taylor is a flex – it’s on the blues rock side of the Americana genre, compared to his more folksy-based recent albums. Amidst the electric rootsy grooves, he asks “am I getting over it, or am I just running away?” A more than fair question we all ask ourselves from time to time. Look forward to this harbinger of Julian Taylor’s full range.
“Running Away” is a continuation of the thematic elements of the album on Pathways. Each song has certain weight to it that speaks to letting go and trying to elevate oneself from burdens that have caused hurt. In this song, I’m literally trying to say that I’m not over the hurt and want to run away from it. – Julian Taylor
