Abe Partridge and Jack Barksdale – “I’m Done”

Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of the song “I’m Done,” which was co-written by Abe Partridge and Jack Barksdale. The sound was engineered by George Apodaca Sr., and it was mixed and mastered by Chuy Flores.

“I’m Done” is Abe Partridge on vocals and guitar;  Jack Barksdale on vocals and guitar; and Austin Harper on pedal steel guitar.

This video was produced and created by George Apodaca Jr. and it was filmed at Arcpoint Studios in Fort Worth, Texas.

“I’m just trying to find a pretty way to say ‘I’m done.’… I’m just raising up my fist to the setting sun.” Life can be so wearying sometimes, and lovely guitar playing like this can ease the pain, even when the lyrics are despairing. That’s catharsis. This pairing is a great idea. When Americana songwriter Abe and guitar prodigy Jack recorded “I’m Done,” they also recorded the Hank Williams classic, “Mind Your Own Business,” and And Rowland Salley’s “Killing the Blues.” Hopefully there are more tunes coming down the pike from this talented collaboration. This is not just good songwriting, it’s great.

On writing the song, Abe said, “This is a song I started when I was frustrated punching a clock M-F and playing out on the weekends. Days and weeks went by and I felt like I was spinning my wheels. I never could seem to finish it, so I sent it to Jack and he wrote a verse and helped polish it up.”

Jack added, “I really love the way the song turned out. Abe laid a good foundation for the song, and I’m just glad I was able to help him finish it.” Abe continued, “I was so honored to be able to put this out with Jack, who is one of my favorite songwriters out here doing it.”
