Nichole Wagner – “A Way With It”
Americana Highways brings you this video premiere of Nichole Wagner’s song “A Way With It” from her forthcoming album Plastic Flowers, which is due to be available on June 7. This song will be released on May 17th. “A Way With It” is a co-write by Nichole Wagner and Jeremy Parsons.
“A Way With It” is Nichole Wagner on vocals; Justin Douglas on guitar; Charlie Pierce on keys; Vince Delgado on bass; Chris Hausler on drums; and Noëlle Hampton on harmonies.
The video was directed by Jacob Stone with assistance by Jarrett New, and stars Nichole Wagner, with Brett Serrell on guitar; Matt Hart on drums and Vance Hazen on bass. This song is a commendation for all those bad habits that go away and then return. You know, the one where a lot of time passes – maybe 13 months and 11 days – and then you get that call again. “You almost got away with it, like you always do.” Nichole conveys the ennui and disillusionment with struggling with addictions perfectly in this song, and with an air of resignation in a Karen Carpenter-esque tone.
I had met Jeremy Parsons briefly at a Toys for Tots benefit, and a year or two later he messaged me to ask if I wanted to give co-writing a try. We hopped on a video hangout for a few hours and managed to write this song. We had both dealt with addiction in various ways and found a lot of common ground in our experiences. – Nichole Wagner
