Motel Sundown – “Waterfall”
Americana Highways is hosting this video premiere of Motel Sundown’s song “Waterfall” from their forthcoming album. The song was recorded at The Motor Museum Studios in Liverpool. It was engineered and produced by Ben Harper and Motel Sundown; mixed by Ben Harper; and mastered by Graeme Lynch at Two Zero Nine Mastering. The song was released on March 29.
“Waterfall” is Karen Turley on lead vocals and guitar; Naomi Campbell on vocals and guitar; Bobby Johnson on vocals and electric guitar; Mikey Jones on keys; Sam Rabette on bass; and Ben Wall on drums.
This is a live version of the song. The video and audio were recorded and produced by Spy Music Productions in Liverpool. Acoustic guitars and closely entwining harmonies launch a pretty folk ballad asking where you’ve been? “‘Cause I’ve been waiting patiently, just calling. It took you a long time to get to me.” Some of us still hold out hope for our special person to finally find us. In order to punctuate that feeling, the the mournful electric guitar adds a layer of lonesome relief. “Honey let’s go dancing tonight.”
This folk ballad, a lovechild of The Staves’ “Nothings Gonna Happen” and Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon,” is a classic first dance song, marrying harmonies and harmonica for a heart-soothing melody. A timeless and hopeful celebration of a unique journey. – Motel Sundown
