Judd Warrick – “Fascination Die” (photo by Adam Holdaway)
Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Judd Warrick’s song “Fascination Die,” from his forthcoming debut LP, Brokenland, which will be released later this year. The album was produced by Judd and Scott Wiley; engineered by Scott Wiley and mastered by Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering in Burbank CA. It was recorded at June Audio in Provo Utah.
“Fascination Die” is Judd Warrick on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, and drums; Evan Coulombe on electric guitars, pedal steel guitar, and lap steel guitar; Scott Wiley on bass; and Melanie Shore on Hammond B3 organ, Wurlitzer, and piano. An opening musical step down with bright guitar strings and steel guitar open out into this heartfelt song with lines like “it’s so good to see you.” This song is bubbling over with joy from every quarter, and it expertly channels the exuberance of learning all about someone new.
Most of my songs come from a melancholy place. “Fascination Die” is uncharacteristically upbeat. It speaks to hope and the excitement of exploring someone’s heart at the beginning of a relationship. What begins as a simple step-down chord progression becomes more powerful when Evan Coulombe adds his iconic pedal steel licks, and Melanie Shore comes in with her solid Hammond B3 organ parts. Now, it’s an upbeat, uplifting wall of sound. It’s very different for me. I’m incredibly proud of the song and grateful for the growth and wisdom I gained from its evolution. – Judd Warrick

Looking forward to this release. I’ve followed Judd’s career for a long time and this new album is going to turn a lot of heads (and open some ears).
