“Mississippi River Long” is Deanie Richardson on fiddle; Gena Britt-Banjo on harmony vocals; Maddie Dalton on upright bass and lead vocals; Dani Flowers on harmony vocals;Tristan Scroggins on mandolin; Seth Taylor on acoustic guitar; and Tony Creasman on drums.  When you have that rising feeling that you love someone more than words can say, that’s when you need special adjectives, like “Mississippi River long.”  Heartfelt as the big wide open blue sky.

“Mississippi River Long” was written by Victoria Banks, Rachel Proctor and myself. It’s a song about loving someone so intensely that simply saying ‘I love you’ isn’t enough. It’s about feeling a love so strong, you need to come up with a new way to say it. Similar to the saying ‘I love you to the moon and back’ this song is about loving someone ‘canyon deep,’ ‘mountain steep,’ or ‘Mississippi River long.’ I recorded this song 12 years ago on a record for a major label that was never released, and it’s always been one of my favorite songs I’ve written. I’m obsessed with Maddie’s voice on this song (fun fact: she’s 19 years old which is how old I was when I wrote this song) and am so happy it was given another life on this record! – Dani Flowers

I am absolutely in love with how this song turned out. I think it was so beautifully written and the instrumentation is just phenomenal. Dani is one of my all-time favorite songwriters, and being entrusted with this song on the album was such an honor. – Maddie Dalton
