Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways presents this premiere of Greg Loiacono’s song “Even Though I Lost” from his forthcoming album Giving it All Away, which was produced by Scott Hirsch; engineered by Jason Reed; mastered by Anthony Puglisi; and recorded at Spacecamp in Occidental, CA.  The album will be released on Blue Rose Records on August 12.

Musicians on the album are Greg Loiacono on vocals and Wurlitzer electric piano; Dave Schools on bass; Michael Urbano on drums and percussion;  Danny Eisenberg on Hohner clavinet; Karl Hunt on saxophone; and Scott Hirsch on mellotron.

Kick back to a 70’s style soul groove on this latest by Greg Loiacono. “At least I loved, even though I lost” is the theme, and it’s one we can all relate to, I’m sure.

This track was the last one cut for the new record. We were just about to start breaking down the equipment and as I walked by the electric piano I remembered a little riff and sat down to play it. Michael Urbano was at the drum set and joined in. Slowly, the whole band played along and we started recording. It was an impromptu moment that led to some really fun and energetic takes.
The only lyric I had at that point was the chorus line, so I was free associating through the verses. But what came up and what I pieced together were these vignettes that kind of celebrate losses and mistakes. Those moments, no matter how messed up they might be when they are happening, are where the good stories come from. — Greg Loiacono
