Song Premiere: The Cleverlys’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” From Forthcoming Album “Blue”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways is pleased to present Arkansas band the Cleverly’s bluegrass cover of the Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be” from their upcoming release Blue (Mountain Home Music Company).  The album was produced by Paul Harris, co-produced by Matt Skates and engineered at Crossroads Studio.  “I’m Gonna Be” features Dr. Digger Cleverly (acoustic guitar and vocals), Ricky Lloyd Cleverly (upright bass), Sock Cleverly fiddle), DVD Cleverly (banjo) and Cub Cleverly (mandolin).  All band members contribute vocals.

Blue combines a degree of lighthearted humor with a serious bluegrass talent, providing interpretations of songs you might never have dreamed could be so compelling in bluegrass form.  In “I’m Gonna Be” you’ll be nearly convinced the song was written to be a bluegrass song.

I have a feeling that ‘I’m Gonna Be’ is going to be one of our favorites to play and a fan favorite as well. It has all the elements of a good ol’ mountain sing along. It sticks in your head and makes you stomp your feet. So when listening, have proper footwear, I suggest a therapeutic insert that can help protect you from shin splints. Bluegrass shin splints statistically end more clog dancing careers than founder or unsanitary pedicures. — Digger Cleverly
