Lyric Video Premiere: Sandy Carroll’s “Movin’ On” from “Blues & Angels” Album

Listen & Watch Video Premieres

Americana Highways presents this lyric video premiere of “Movin’ On” from Sandy Carroll’s new album Blues & Angels (Catfood Records) – written by Sandy Carroll and William Lee Ellis.

“Movin’ On” features Sandy Carroll’s signature, rich vocals, with Derrick Young on drums,  Will MacFarlane on bass and guitar, Rick Steff on keys and Trey Hardin singing back-up vocals.  It opens right up with Steff’s swaggering piano and Carroll’s swaggering blues-lyrical gait, while people of all generations are shown “movin’, just keep movin’ on,” bustling about in their lives’ rhythmic paces.

The lighthearted ragtime music shows all the joy of ‘Movin’ On’ while the message is a bit deeper. Videographer Shaye Smith captures the mood and connects the visual with sound and words perfectly. Written with William Lee Ellis, this form of old time blues with Rick Steff’s piano reminds me of walking down Beale or Bourbon Street and hearing a piano player bouncing us along the road of life. — Sandy Carroll
