Song Premiere: Daniel Champagne’s “The Great Dividing Range”

Listen & Watch Song Premieres

Americana Highways brings you this premiere of Australian Americana musician Daniel Champagne’s “The Great Dividing Range,” due to be released on November 2nd.  Produced by Tim McArtney (Asta), this is a stripped-down, bare bones recording of Champagne on an acoustic guitar and singing.

Champagne has particularly emotive vocal intonations which render this song a very special listen. He implores us to break free: “Like a ramblin’ fool I said: ‘take my hand and just start running,'” along the metaphorical range dividing two contrasting realities.
The Great Dividing Range is an extensive mountain range that snakes up the East of Australian and separates the dry red deserts of the centre from the lush Eastern Coastline. I spent many of my early touring years driving up and down the inside of that range and always thought it was a particularly strong metaphor and that I’d write a song around it one day. – Daniel Champagne
